The IMPACT Project

Improving Medical Provider Awareness and Competency Training

IMPACT is a 6-day intensive clinical training program for Haitian physicians and nurse practitioners. Each year, providers gather at Hôpital Bienfaisance de Pignon in northern Haiti for an advanced curriculum co-developed by HEAL Haiti, Haitian medical partners, and U.S. guest lecturers from institutions including Johns Hopkins and NYU.

Now in its fourth year, IMPACT 2026 brought together 25 returning providers for advanced-level training. The program focused on oncology, emergency medicine, mental health, and clinical leadership — areas that participants and partners identified as urgent priorities.

2025 Highlights

Mental Health Clinic

155+ patients seen by IMPACT providers during a dedicated live clinic. Mental healthcare in Haiti is often inaccessible. IMPACT providers delivered it.

Cancer Screening Clinic

72+ patients screened for breast, cervical, colon, and prostate cancer. All patients with abnormal results were referred for follow-up care through Hôpital Bienfaisance de Pignon.

Advanced Alumni Training

IMPACT 2025 served providers who completed the 2023 and 2024 programs. This is a continuing education model, not a one-time event.

What Changes After IMPACT

Are you a clinician or educator?

We are always building our faculty. Guest lecturers bring expertise from U.S. and international institutions and connect directly with Haitian providers doing the work.
